Lincoln Center has announced the programming for the 44th season of its Great Performers series.

Among the theater-related works is the U.S. premiere of One Evening (December 9-11), directed by Katie Mitchell, an associate director of the National Theatre Company of Great Britain. The work re-imagines Schubert's Winterrreise and is inspired by Samuel Beckett's life-long love of the composer's music. Text from Beckett's works will be woven among the songs, to be sung by tenor Mark Padmore.

On March 22, Sally Wilfert and Michael Winther will sing songs by George Gershwin as part of the What Makes It Great? series, which will also include programs on Debussy, Brahms, Osvaldo Golijov, Schumann, and Monteverdi.

Singers Angelika Kirchschlager, Bernarda Fink, Simon Keenlyside, Ian Bostridge, and Thomas Hampson will be featured in the recital series, Art of the Song, Virtuoso Recitals. In addition, Gustavo Dudanel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in two concerts in May.

Other highlights will include the U.S. premiere of Stifter's Dinge, an 80-minute sonic performance landscape inspired by the writings of Austrian romantic novelist Adalbert Stifter; Beethoven Then and Now: The Complete Symphonies, conducted by Iván Fischer; the world premiere of Pictures Reframed, a collaboration between pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and South-African visual artist Robin Rhode; and Jordi Savall's Jerusalem Project, which explores the city's Muslim, Jewish, and Christian musical heritage in two programs.
