NYU School of Law to Host Reading of Broadway Impact's 8

By Bethany Rickwald • Sep 28, 2012 • New York City

NYU School of Law is set to host a free reading of the American Foundation for Equal Rights and Broadway Impact's 8, October 4 at 7 pm at NYU School of Law in Vanderbilt Hall. Will Pomerantz will direct.

Written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, 8 recounts the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the freedom to marry.

The reading will be followed by a discussion with Perry lay witness Ryan Kendall, Executive Director of the American Foundation for Equal Rights Adam Umhoefer, Executive Director of Epic Theater Ensemble Ron Russell, and the performers. Vice Dean Randy A. Hertz will moderate.
