Broadway and cabaret star Yvonne Constant returns to Danny's Skylight Room with her popular La Chanson Realiste: Paris in the Twenties. With Musical Director Russ Kassoff, Ms. Constant presents love songs popular in France between the World Wars. Some of these songs were initially sung by Marlene Dietrich, Mistinguett and Josephine Baker, and later reprised in America by Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Bing Crosby and Fanny Brice among others. Singing in French and English, Ms. Constant has been praised by Rex Reed who said "She is a delight in any language."
Yvonne Constant came to America from Paris with the cast of La Plume de Ma Tante, winning a TONY Award for her first featured role on Broadway. She also appeared on Broadway in No Strings and The Gay Life (winning the NY Drama Critics Award) and became one of Johnny Carson's favorite guests with a record 45 guest appearances on The Tonight Show. At that time, she was also named one of the year's three "Most Promising Actresses" along with Barbra Streisand. In addition, she has won the Backstage Bistro Award and was honored to be named a Knight of Arts and Letters by the French Minister of Culture.
