During the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), China was invaded by the regime of Western Xia (1038-1227). Most of the male members of the Yang family all died in the battles, so the Family vowed to lay down their lives to rescue the borders. At the age of 100, widow She Taijun, persuaded the Emperor to allow her to lead the troops with her granddaughter-in-law, Mu Guiying. Under She Taijun and Mu Guiying's leadership, the Northern Song army successfully defeated the enemy. After their defeat, the Western Xia army retreated to their camp, set up a trap and captured Yang Wengguang, the only remaining male heir of the Yang family. With the help of an herb farmer, She Taijun and Mu Guiying found the hidden trail to the Western Xia's camp. They destroyed the invaders' camp and rescued Yang Wengguang, claiming the final victory.
