V-Day Brooklyn returns, featuring a fully-staged performance of The Vagina Monologues that incorporates modern dance and live audience participation! The fundraising event is the official Brooklyn chapter of playwright/activist Eve Ensler's V-Day Worldwide Campaign to stop violence against women. Proceeds benefit the Voices of Women Organizing Project at New York City's Battered Women's Resource Center. To date, V-Day has raised over $30 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it; crafted international educational, media and PSA campaigns; reopened shelters; funded safe houses in Kenya, South Dakota, Egypt and Iraq and over 5000 community-based anti-violence programs. The "V" in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina. Following Wednesday's performance there is an After Party in the back room, featuring America's Sweetheart.
