Internationally-acclaimed vocalist and actress Ute Lemper performs a special benefit concert for Braking the Cycle, the annual AIDS bike ride, which benefits the HIV/AIDS programs of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

More than 100 cyclists from all across America journey 275 miles over three days and three states to raise funds and awareness in the battle against HIV and AIDS. The ride begins Friday, September 28, 2007, in Gettysburg, PA, and covers a scenic path through Lancaster, PA; the northern edge of Philadelphia; Clinton, NJ; and finally, a celebratory homecoming in New York City. Last year 118 cyclists raised an astonishing $409,000.

Ute Lemper stands alone among artists as the foremost interpreter of works by Kurt Weill and as a performer who uses song to bridge the worlds of art, politics and history. Winner of the 1998 Olivier Award for Chicago in London, Ms. Lemper is a highly regarded musical theatre actress whose credits also include the award-winning productions of Cats in Vienna, Jerome Savary's Cabaret in Paris, and The Blue Angel in Berlin. She also garnered raves in the New York production of Chicago.

In addition to Weill, she regularly performs works by Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich, Jacques Prevert, and Tom Waits, as well as her own compositions. Her upcoming CD features only her original songs.
