Harlem Opera Theater, in collaboration with Old Deerfield Productions, presents "The Education of Sojourner Truth, 1832, New York City," the second act from Truth, a new folk opera about the life of Sojourner Truth, former slave, abolitionist, preacher and advocate of women's rights. Evelyn Harris, starring as Sojourner Truth, is a former member of Sweet Honey in the Rock. The excerpt from the opera by Paula M. Kimper and Talaya Delaney will be followed by a discussion between the audience and the artists. Music direction by Gregory Hopkins, who will also present the amazing voices of the Harlem Opera Theater Chorus as the first part of the evening. A Meet the Artist Wine and Cheese Reception will follow.
