WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera--which had its American premiere at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (then the Theatre De Lys) on March 10, 1954--is being revived for a one-night-only concert presentation in honor of the centennial of the birth of Lucille Lortel.
Reuniting are original cast members Bea Arthur, Jo Sullivan Loesser, Charlotte Rae, and William Duell. Bea Arthur is taking on the role originated by Lotte Lenya, while the others recreate their original roles. Joining them is Robert Cuccioli as Macheath and George S. Iriving.
