Tickets and Information

On March 12 at 5:30pm, 6 writers meet at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in lower Manhattan. They pick a number out of a bag to determine the number of characters in the piece, and pull headshots to find their characters. In the amount of time it takes to cross the New York Harbor 3 times (30 minutes per trip/90 minutes total), they will have completed a STATENISLANDFERRYplay. At this point they meet their director chosen by a blind draw, reviewing and rewriting the material as they travel back to Manhattan. When the teams disembark, they meet the performers who have until 8:00pm the next evening to be off book.

On March 13 as rehearsals are winding down and as theSTATENISLANDFERRYplays are being performed, the writing of theSTATENISLANDFERRYmusicals is underway. Five book writers gather at 5:30pm, draw numbers and headshots, and complete the book for a new one-act musical by 7:00pm. At this point there is a blind draw to see which composers and lyricists the writers will be paired with, and a second blind draw to find out who the director and choreograoger will be. Then it's 3 more trips across the Harbor until again disembarking in Manhattan to meet the performers who have the same objective to achieve as their peers from the previous night. March 14 at 8:00pm offers the performance of the musicals, fully produced and off-book.

Between 5:30pm on Wednesday and 10:00pm on Friday, 6 plays and 5 musicals will have been written, rehearsed, and performed. Plays will be repeated on Saturday, March 15 @ 7:30pm, and musicals will be repeated at 9:30pm. All proceeds benefit the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
