First presented on July 1, 1912 for King George V and Queen Mary, The Royal Variety Performance provides the majority of funding for Brinsworth House, the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund's (EABF) home for retired members of the entertainment profession and their dependants. The 2006 show is the 78th Royal Variety Performance; since the first event, over six thousand artists from all over the world have given their services freely to the EABF.
