WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Pan Man is a musical play set in the 1970's on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago when "the living was easy" and "pan" was considered real rebel music. It was a time when pan music was looked down on and viewed negatively by most of society. The story of "The Pan Man" brings humor to the history of pan through a multi-talented cast and lively, energetic original music. It's the story of the Tom family, a poor yet loving unit, including Josephina (loving and patient wife), Rufus (her committed and full-of-life husband), and Lypo (the talented and strong-minded son). During a difficult and challenging time for the unemployed Rufus, his son Lypo finds himself through the music of his harmonica and is completely determined to win the school's talent show. But he never imagined that his greatest obstacle to his success would come from within his own family. His ambition and determination to fix what is broken inspires those around him to eventually help and support him, even if it means enduring a little trouble. The story is accompanied by a live band that includes an original score and, of course, the Steel Drums!
