As America's oldest consistently performing all-male collegiate choral organization under professional directorship, the World Renown Morehouse College Glee Club has performed at The White House, state capitols, and leading concert halls across the United States. Notable occasions and performances include: for Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, James Earl Carter, and George H.W. Bush, at the funeral of Martin Luther King Jr., a U.S. State Department tour of Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Uganda, and Senegal, tours of the Bahamas, Bermuda, Poland, Russia and South Africa, a CBS Easter morning broadcast, soundtrack for the movie School Daze, Cosby Show performance with actress Phylicia Rashaad, National Public Radio's A King Celebration, Kennedy Center Awards Salute to Robert Shaw, annual Christmas performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, performances with soprano Jessye Norman and Leontyne Price, National Anthem at Super Bowl XXVIII with Natalie Cole, Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games with Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, and Trisha Yearwood, and momentous receptions and galas with Ray Charles and Oprah Winfrey (both of whom became generous donors of Morehouse). In fact, as recently featured in the final episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Ms. Winfrey became the top individual contributor to Morehouse College and established the Oprah Winfrey Scholarship Program to provide merit and need based scholarship support of Morehouse students. It was her attendance at a commencement exercise and the pleasure of hearing the glee club that sparked a new season of giving. In celebration of the centennial milestone and in continuance of a remarkable legacy, the national showcase of the World Renown Morehouse College Glee Club's vocal, instrumental, and conducting performance artistry will unfold at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center.
