WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Devil and Daniel Webster is Stephen Vincent Benet's rarely-seen classic. Set in the 1840's, Farmer Jabez Stone has sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for riches and success when "Mr. Scratch" arrives to see the contract fulfilled and take him off to Hell. But Daniel Webster, the fiery New England orator, agrees to defend Stone before a jury of the damned. The resulting trial is a scene of unparalleled suspense. The show stars James Naughton, Harris Yulin, and Eric Bogosian.
