WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The ButtCracker is a comical, parody play/psuedo musical set in modern day New York City, spoofing not only the story of the Nutcracker ballet but also all of the popular dance/movies/television shows spanning the last few decades. As we open Act One, it is Christmas Eve and "Cocoa," a clumsy and insecure 25 year old, is questioning her life's direction, (and which borough to live in) until she receives an 'accidental' Christmas gift of black ballet slippers, a gift from her middle class father who ("thought them we're bowlin' shoes" when he purchased them from a local pawn shop.) Juxtaposing the themes of Footloose, Dirty Dancing, Fame, Flashdance, and many others, the plot creates the antics of "Crashdance," "Prancing with the Stars," "Cutloose," "Lord of the Pants," and "Saturday Night Beaver," this hilarious journey including men in tights and Tutu's, dueling ballerinas, and disco fever gone awry is a show NOT to be missed!
