The cry for freedom from oppression is a thread that runs throughout the concert which begins with Bernstein's Symphony no. 1, Jeremiah, and its haunting text from the Old Testament.
Musgrave's suite from the opera Harriet, The Woman Called Moses tells the stirring story of Harriet Tubman, the heroine of the Underground Railroad. This suite has been created for the BP by the composer.
