WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The once-in-a-lifetime event features many of the artists who helped make Symphony Space a beacon of arts and entertainment in New York City--from Broadway's biggest actors and award-winning musicians to cinema legends and world-renowned dancers. Live performances and readings honor Symphony Space's history and welcome its promising future. Emmy and Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin reads eight Baseball Haiku. Internationally renowned Irish actress Fionnula Flanagan and Tony Award-winning actor Fritz Weaver abbreviates Symphony Space's famous annual marathon Bloomsday on Broadway to the "shortest Bloomsday ever," performing a condensed version of the entirety of James Joyce's classic novel. Leonard Nimoy, whose generous contributions to Symphony Space led it to name the "Leonard Nimoy Thalia" in his honor, reads Heinrich Boll's "The Laugher." Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress and Saturday Night Live veteran Jane Curtin share a story on life in NYC and the Upper West side during the early `80s. Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller perform a classic sketch together. Frank McCourt, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Angela's Ashes and 'Tis: A Memoir, and writers Calvin Trillin and Robert MacNeil also take part in performances at the Bash.
