After making his mark as a sideman with John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Art Farmer and others, pianist Steve Kuhn grew beyond the powerful influence of Bill Evans into a unique stylist with incredible technique and sense of dynamics and lyricism. Ron Carter is among the most original, prolific, influential bassists in jazz. With more than 2,000 albums to his credit, Ron has performed and recorded with many of music's greats including Bill Evans, B.B. King, Dexter Gordon and many more, beginning his career in the 1960s with Jaki Byard and Eric Dolphy, Cannonball Adderley and a five year stint in the Miles Davis' Quintet. Rounding out the trio is avant-garde drummer Joey Baron, best known for his work with Bill Frisell, Stan Getz, and John Zorn. Combining technical acuity with a deep sense of groove, Joey has also performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, David Bowie, Tony Bennett, Carmen McRae, Laurie Anderson, John Scofield, Al Jarreau, Jim Hall, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Pepper, John Abercrombie and Tim Berne. Join us at Birdland as these three major forces in jazz come together for this one week-only engagement!
