Valentine is Sally Maye's fifth solo recording. She has long wanted to do an album that would be, in her own words, "my Valentine to the American songbook, and to all the singers who have inspired me over the years." Working with musical director Jeff Klitz the two created an intimate jazz recording that explores the possibilities and pitfalls of romance as viewed by composers Duke Ellington, Stanley Turentine, Cy Coleman and others. The official release date for Valentine, which is being produced and released by Bayview Records, is February 14.
