Rene Marie - vocalist, composer and risk taker - has taken the jazz world by surprise. Arriving on the scene in 1998 with her self-produced debut CD Renaissance, Rene has gone on to impress audiences and critics alike with her unique vocal artistry and interpretations of time-worn standards. Her jazz influences read like a recipe - Joe Zawinul's energy and insistence on originality, Strayhorn's moods and Monk's quirky note choices. Rene's burning rhythms and tonal density make each song she sings an experience beyond the typical jazz presentation.
