WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
This reading series features three classic absurdist comedies that resonate in the current political environment. Rhinoceros by Eugène Ionesco, directed here by Srda Vasiljevic (Dust Can't Kill Me), considers the plight of the individual in the face of a brutal popular movement. The Trial, adapted by Steven Berkoff from the novel by Franz Kafka and directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (What We're Up Against), follows the fate of an accused man amid an inhuman bureaucracy and eroding civil rights. Finally, Harold Pinter's The Hothouse explores what happens when the inmates run an asylum.
