WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Irish Arts Center continues its film series with a night dedicated to Irish filmmaker, Bob Quinn. The documentary Cinegael Paradiso, directed by Bob Quinn's son, Robert, deals with Cinegael, the independent cinema set up by Bob Quinn in Connemara in the mid 1970's and focuses on the contribution the cinema made to the cultural life of the community. Following the documentary is his classic film, Poitín. Cyril Cusack stars in this film surrounding the antics of a poitín maker in Connemara who tries to keep his creation from the local Gardai. A landmark film, Poitín was the first full length Irish language fiction feature ever produced. (Subtitled).
