WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps Symphonic Band presents Once Upon a Musical Time, a concert dedicated to the music inspired by stories, myths, and legends. During this performance, New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke will conduct his masterwork, Casey at the Bat. Reineke will discuss his compositions during a special pre-concert discussion at 7:15 p.m. hosted by NY1 Producer Frank DiLella. The band will also perform musical selections from Fiddler on the Roof and Sweeney Todd, among others. Tubby the Tuba will showcase a performance by New York Pops Tubist Marcus Rojas. Rojas has played on more than 350 recordings and performed with anumber of ensembles, including The Metropolitan Opera and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Broadway favorite Tituss Burgess, star of The Little Mermaid and Guys and Dolls, will narrate the tale of a tuba searching for a song of his own as Rojas performs.
