WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Players presents Noel Coward 101, An Hour of Songs and Quips, conceived and performed by Morrow Wilson, and directed by Rue McClanahan with musical direction by Paul Trueblood.

Born in 1899, just in time to set the tone for the 20th century, Noel Coward's prodigious talent as a playwright, actor, composer and lyricist (among his other skills) provided much-needed sparkle, panache, verve, wit and wisdom, during times good and bad. He delighted audiences from the carefree Jazz Age, through the Depression, World War II and The Cold War. Sir Noel was wildly successful and internationally adored and lived his turbulent life in extremes: a cynic and a patriot, a hedonist who was fiercely disciplined ("Work is more fun than fun"). He knew most of the century's most interesting people and always had something trenchant and clever to say to them--and about them.
