Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) and the New York Opera Studio (NYOS) are proud to introduce The Nico Castel International Master Singer Competition 2010. A competition like no other in New York City, offered to aspiring singers who wish to advance their careers to the next level, this competition rewards and acknowledges excellent vocal technique and artistry in opera and oratorio.
Ten finalists, five female and five male, selected from the first round of auditions will be invited to perform live in the Master Singer Finalist Concert in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. After the concert one female and one male winner will be named the 2010 Nico Castel International Master Singer!
Each 2010 Nico Castel International Master Singer will be awarded: a soloist role on the 2012 DCINY Concert Season in a major choral master work performed with orchestra and a full scholarship to the New York Opera Studio Summer Intensive Program for Singers 2011.
The competition will be judged by Nico Castel, the undisputed and internationally acclaimed expert on language, diction and style for singers; Carol Castel, a multi-faceted and distinguished performer and director of operatic and stage productions; Iris Derke and Jonathan Griffith, the co-founders of Distinguished Concerts International New York; and Bob Chilcott, a widely acclaimed choral composer and conductor.
