WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
FINAL WEEKEND! The New York Times pick of the week! (4/15/2005) The program includes NYTB's acclaimed revival Capriol Suite (1930). Chosen as one of the top ten dance events of 2004, Jack Anderson of the New York Times called it "a delicious evocation of courtly and mischievous Renaissance dances." Also returning is a signature of NYTB, Judgment of Paris (1938), which is staged by Sallie Wilson, former ballerina with American Ballet Theatrer. Ms. Wilson, who is NYTB's ballet coach, is also presenting her own choreography of the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. The late Ron Sequoio, former director of Manhattan Festival Ballet, is represented with Rondo for Seven. Mr. Sequoio's career included dancing with the Australian Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Metropolitan Opera Ballet and on Broadway. Rounding out the evening is the premiere of Orbiting, a new ballet by NYTB company member, Danielle Genest. Also included in the program is an earlier work of Genest's titled Volatile Passage and Marco Pelle's Spaces.
