WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
RICHARD STRAUSS (1864-1949)
Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life) (1898)
Alan Gilbert: New York Philharmonic Music Director Designate
Ein Heldenleben is conceived on a giant scale with enormous orchestral forces to match, but the beauty of the music stands on its own and shows Strauss as a supreme master of orchestration.
When work ends, come experience a different kind of rush. Head over to the Philharmonic for an evening of music that's guaranteed to move you. Concerts last about an hour. So by the time the last notes die down, so has rush hour.
Please note: There will be no late seating break during the first half of these performances.
