The old and the new dance a strange and thrilling pas de deux in the singer-songwriter's Café Carlyle debut.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
In the ten years since her breakthrough debut album Get Away From Me, released when she was just 21, Nellie McKay has been heralded as both an innovator and an heir to the great songwriters, singers and performers of yesteryear. New York Magazine has said McKay "writes lyrics like a gonzo Cole Porter [and] sings like an attitudinal Peggy Lee."
With her upcoming solo show Nellie with a Z, she makes her debut at Café Carlyle, the legendary home of so many of her artistic forebears.
