Acclaimed actors Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach and playwright David Henry Hwang host My New York which includes songs that celebrate New York and performances of winning plays from this year's Lark Youth Playwriting Contest. The event features the talents of Broadway and television stars including Kerry Butler, Ray DeMattis, Arthur French, Jennifer Gambatese, Olivia Greer, Kathryn Grody, Defne Halman, Katherine Hiler, Daniel Jenkins, Marc Kudisch, Christy Carlson Romano, Barbara Walsh, Frederick Weller, Andrew Zutty, and others.
The winning plays are: Waiting Four by 16-year-old Josh Cohen, directed by Linnet Taylor, mentored by Saviana Stanescu; Lori's Bad Day by 17-year-old Farah Hussain, directed by Giovanna Sardelli, mentored by Michael Bradford; and Five Minutes More by 18-year-old Mickey Pearlstein-Gluck, directed by Steven Williford, mentored by Andrea Thome.
Proceeds from the benefit concert will support The Lark, a not-for-profit center for play and musical development, founded in 1994 by Producing Director John Clinton Eisner. The Lark champions thought-provoking and diverse new works, uniting playwrights with other theatre artists and audience input as part of the evolution of the dramatic text and the playwright's own vision.
Special premium benefit tickets from $250 to $500 for adults and $$100 for children under 16 include after-show dinner at Vittorio Restaurant (308 Bleeker Street); special benefit tickets at $150 for adults and $75 for children under 16 include coffee and dessert after show.
