WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Baruch Performing Arts Center and Bubu Productions present Musica Sequenza, The New York Baroque Ensemble with Bach meets Mozart in duo concerts by soloists of Musica Sequenza New York. Works will be presented by Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Devienne, and Schaffrath.

Musica Sequenza, an early music ensemble founded by Burak Ozdemir, is comprised of young Juilliard musicians who found they all shared a common passion for historical performance. The ensemble performs music ranging from renaissance to early classical, on both modern and period instruments. Mr. Ozdemir serves as Musica Sequenza's artistic director/conductor, as well as bassoonist of the ensemble. Other members include violinists, Joan Plana and Liv Heym, violist Mai Nguyen, cellist Ezra Seltzer bassist Alex Jenkins and harpsichordist Irene Wong. The size of the ensemble varies depending upon the repertoire being performed.

The ensemble made its debut on January 2009 at Peter J Sharp Theater at The Juilliard School's Chamber Music Fest in a performance of C.P.E. Bach's Concerto, Wq.166 in an arrangement transcribed by Mr. Ozdemir. The 2009 - 10 concert season also included performances at Alice Tully Hall, Peter J Sharp Theater, American Irish Society, The New York Society for Ethical Culture, a masterclass performance featuring gamba virtuose Jordi Savall at Juilliard's Paul Hall, Maiden Lane and The Mallet.
