WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
This triumphant story of Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play professional major league baseball, chronicles the young athlete's nonviolent struggle to integrate what was then considered a "white man's game." Most Valuable Player chronicles Jackie's courageous journey from the Negro League to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Despite the challenges Robinson faced as a black male living in a racist society, his perseverance, intelligence, leadership and athletic skill propelled him to become a national hero and paved the way for African-Americans in baseball and beyond
