WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Oscar and Tony award winner Mercedes Ruehl appears as a guest artist lecturer for The Studio's Harold Clurman Lecture Series. Ruehl first came to national attention as the over-the-top, gutter-mouth gun-toting wife of a mobster in the film Married to the Mob. Prior to that she had always distinguished herself on the stage in leading roles in such plays as Other Peoples Money and Christopher Durang's The Marriage of Betty and Boo. Ruehl won a Tony Award for her starring role in Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers, a role she reprised in the film version. Most recently, Ruehl was nominated for a Tony for her work in The Goat or Who is Sylvia. Named for the esteemed critic, writer and director Harold Clurman, the Harold Clurman Lecture Series presents lectures by respected artists from film, theater, music and visual arts, followed by an audience question and answer session.
