WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Tony nominee and longtime La MaMa artist Andre DeShields (THE FULL MONTY, AIN'T MISBEHAVIN') will serve as emcee when La MaMa concludes its 50th anniversary season with LA MAMA 50 BIG BASH, an evening of performances and celebration. The line-up of BIG BASH performers includes Tony winner Bill Irwin (WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?), Adrian Bailey (THE LITTLE MERMAID), Everett Quinton (THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP) and renowned composer Tan Dun. One of the highlights of the event will be a performance from LA MAMA CANTATA, a musical work about the life and times of Ellen Stewart, created by the Tony Award-winning composer and longtime La MaMa artist Elizabeth Swados (RUNAWAYS), with surprise guests.
