For those not in the know Kinky Friedman is a Jewish cowboy from Texas. He is renowned in music circles as the unpredictable and entertaining leader of "Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys", and in literary circles as a best-selling author of 28 books. He is also known for touring with Bob Dylan in the Rolling Thunder Revue, hiding the fugitive Abbie Hoffman from the FBI and CIA, and acting in B-grade Hollywood movies. He has befriended most of the musical and literary greats over the years as well as Presidents such as Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. In 2006 he ran for Governor of Texas.
