WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

A concert on Devil's Night with otherworldly vocalists Carol Lipnik and Joseph Keckler. These artists, each possessed of multi-octave voices and their own savvy, playful brands of spookiness, present a fun packed double bill of unusual music-- a lunatic's cabaret. Known for his thunderous baritone and androgynous beauty, singer and monologist Joseph Keckler's songs are wild, sensuous and emotional, showcased as highly theatrical, madcap production numbers. Having just returned from a successful run of his show in The Dublin Fringe, Keckler, drawing from sources as varied as Bessie Smith and Verdi, plays with a band and is joined by classical violinist and electronic artist Danny Digital and 21st century dragster Glenn Marla. Experiencing New York cult songstress Carol Lipnik and her band Spookarama is like attending a séance in a deserted Coney Island amusement park at night. Like a strange siren medium, Lipnik channels the spectrum of human emotions with her hauntingly beautiful voice . Her poetic image-rich, genre defying songwriting echoes influences as diverse as Weimer-era German cabaret, swamp blues, psychedelic folk, and turn of the century parlor songs. With Dred Scott's crazed carnival keyboards and Jacob Lawson's masterful gypsy violin.
