John Hollenbeck: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A part of the The Composers Project series. Percussionist-composer John Hollenbeck returns to the Thalia with his signature piece The Drum Major Instinct, based on the sermon by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In this extraordinary event, the trombone trio of Curtis Hasselbring, Brian Drye and Jacob Garchik along with Hollenbeck's drums echo and emphasize Dr. King's famous sermon that play alongside them. A new companion piece with alternate instrumentation for piano, guitar and accordion is also performed.
