WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The West Side YMCA will host acclaimed poets Jeff Friedman and Joan Larkin on Friday, October 24th at 8:00pm. The two poets will read and discuss their latest works. Friedman's fourth collection of poetry, Black Threads, explores the fear, sadness and spiritual hunger that flourished in the 20th century while connecting Noah to the great migration, the golem to the suburbs, and Cain and Abel to the generation that embraced rock'n'roll. Larkin's My Body: New & Selected Poems, is a collection of poems that utilizes strong images, startling observations and the excavation of significant relationships to guide readers through literature that spotlights the importance of independent presses in developing the talent in lesbian communities.
