WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Louis Armstrong famously said it: "If you have to ask, you'll never know." But he actually meant it the other way around, what he was really saying was: unless you ask, you'll never know. This marvelously entertaining program for both parents and kids will answer this most basic question in an exciting and swinging fashion. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis won't just tell you - or even show you - what jazz is, rather they will make you feel the true meaning of jazz way down deep in your soul. Repertoire will include Charles Mingus' "Better Get It in Your Soul," Count Basie's "Every Day I Have the Blues," "Lil' Liza Jane," "Old McDonald," and more.
Free pre-concert activities on swing, blues, and improvisation, Atrium, 12:15pm & 2:15pm
