Athol Fugard returns to London with a revival of THE ISLAND originally staged at the Market Theater in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1973. John Kani and Winston Ntshona also return in the roles they created that garnered each a Tony Award during the acclaimed Broadway run in 1975. THE ISLAND was written as a tribute to the men and women who served sentences at the Robben Island maximum security prison during the brutal battle to establish South Africa as a free democratic state. This revival has played to capacity houses in Paris and Stockholm. Playing only twenty performances. -vn
