WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) and Back Stage will host the networking panel, How to Run a Theater Company (Without It Running Your Life).

Panelists include Paul Adams, Emerging Artists (EAT); Jeff Corrick, Wings Theatre; Patricia Klausner, Shotgun Productions; Melba LaRose, NY Artists Unlimited; Rich Orloff, Foolish Theater Company; Mike Roderick, Small Pond Entertainment.

The panel will be focus on founding and running a company: how or if there can (or should) be an evolution away from the founder's vision, how responsibilities are divided - the hierarchy of who does what (no, one person should NOT do it all), the creation of a mission statement, and how it evolves as a company evolves, the pros and cons of going not-for-profit versus remaining a commercial venture, how important it is to have a theater space of one's own, and anything else that is important for someone to know who is thinking about starting their own producing company.

The panel will be co-moderated by Sherry Eaker, editor-at-large of Back Stage. Doors open at 7:00pm for networking and refreshments, panel starts promptly at 7:30pm.  Admission is FREE for members of TRU; $10 for non-members.  To reserve a space at the panel or to become a member of TRU, please call 212-714-7628 or e-mail TRUnltd@aol.com.
