WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The festival will feature top professional dancers and choreographers along with rising stars of the Harlem School of the Arts. The musical accompaniment will be performed by the Camerata New York Orchestra under the direction of Richard Owen. The program will include the debut of Christopher Caines's Glimpsed Through Birches set to music by Edvard Grieg, Pedro Ruiz's Aria set to Heitor Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras, and Leyland Simmons's version of Guilty Pleasures set to the third movement of Karl Jenkins's Palladio. The Harlem School will offer a variety of works by its resident choreographer, Aubrey Lynch, with its young dancers set to the music of Bach, Chopin, Debussy, and Elgar.
