WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Henry Dee is back at Danny's performing the music of a talented group of young songwriters who from 1958 to 1964 came together in several locations along Broadway just north of Times Square -- the Brill Building is #1619. They created a sound that attracted the disdain of their elders but got the attention of the music industry and sold millions of records. This was the first time teens and young adults were actively involved in writing and creating a new pop music sound. Their inclusive music conveyed the message to kids everywhere -- boys and girls of whatever race or ethnicity -- that they mattered and that they belonged. They introduced multi-culturalism long before it was known as a concept, and some forty years later their songs are still fondly remembered as the heartbeat of a newly emerging baby-boom generation. John Hoglund in Backstage describes Henry as a performer: "This guy's got a lot of the right stuff going for him . . . His gentle approach to every song is easy on the ears and projects a telling knowledge of the lyric. Dee understands from whence he sings." Henry is accompanied once again by his Music Director, Lucy Galliher on piano and vocals, by Jason Green on guitar, Jacob Melchior on drums, John Roche on bass, and by April Hill and Mark Perez doing backup vocals.
