WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
By popular demand, Gay Marshall -BILLBOARD Top World Music Artist and Playbill Top 10 Diva - reprises her stunning concert series, PIAF: Queen of Heart, at The Metropolitan Room this winter. Time Out New York voted PIAF: Queen of Heart to their 2009 "10 Best of Cabaret" list. "It takes a brave singer to take on the Edith Piaf songbook," wrote TONY, "it takes a special one to pull it off so heart-piercingly." The concert is based on the CD, "Gay Marshall Sings Piaf, La Vie l'Amour," a BILLBOARD Top World Album. Queen of Heart is Marshall's original take on Piaf, far from the traditional perception of her as a tragic icon. She presents a powerhouse of heartwarming, heartbreaking emotion, delivering the dramatic repertoire - including her own English adaptations - with stirring authenticity, yet not a hint of imitation. Song selection is an unusual mix of known and rare, accompanied by a superb five piece ensemble. Original arrangements by Marshall and Paul Bevan are a refreshingly modern take on a classical theme. Cabaret Scenes writes "mesmerizing ...Gay Marshall amazes at every turn as she embodies the passion, spirit, joy, humor and tragedy of Piaf."
