The powerful and riveting dancer Pepe Torres, known for his work with the award-winning ensemble Son de la Frontera, returns to New York with his own acclaimed company. Raised in Andalusia's Moron de la Frontera, a hotbed of Gypsy flamenco, he toured extensively with Martirio, Antonio Canales, Sara Baras and Manuela Carraso and appeared in the New York Flamenco Festival with Son de la Frontera (2006 and 2008) and with Farruquito and Juana Amaya (2003). This program marks the New York premiere of Homenaje, a centennial tribute to Pepe Torres' grandfather, Gypsy flamenco singer Joselero de Moron, and to the unique contributions his family (which includes his grand uncle, guitar legend Diego del Gastor) has made to the history of flamenco.
