Michael Alan's Draw-a-thon Theater has been a NYC art subculture staple for more than 4 years. Think many of your readers will
appreciate the upcoming show Saturday; the experience is is truly like no other performance art drawing session. Very different, very
NYC, similar to Warhol's Factory shows.
Health care Draw-a-thon @ The Gershwin Hotel
A dark, sinister, very different Draw-a-thon: watch as performers
use their bodies to demonstrate the horror and pathos of illness, pain, disability, and disease. Come draw and be inspired by unique,
deformed and distorted poses - powerful expressions and
interpretations of agony, affliction and injury. Heath care is a visceral, compelling and unforgettable statement about the emotional
and physical realities behind health care reform - coldly
unacknowledged, dehumanized and politicized by a government that
refuses to take responsibility for its citizens.
10 insane, in pain nude performers will act out short and dark actions in the back theater (2nd room) of the Gershwin (1000 sqft).
The front room (3000 sqft) will be used for a 3 hour massive long
pose, with four models, captivating pain at its best. At 9pm the back theater will spill into the main room and become one huge pile of bodies in the world famous Gershwin Hotel!
About Michael Alan's Draw-a-thon Theater: We live now. Everything, past and future is happening in the present
moment. This is Draw-A-Thon Theater. Performance art that by its
very nature invites the audience to actively make their own art as
part of the experience. It is art activism in its essential form.
Draw-A-Thon Theater puts their collaborative, dynamic energy into
otherwise static, uninspiring life modeling situations through the amalgamation of performance art, music, theater, and live, communal art making.
