WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Join the Dramatists Guild of America as they salute the playwrights, composers and lyricists who created this season's most scintillating musical moments and help raise money to benefit the Dramatists Guild Fund. The seventh annual Dramatists Guild Gala will offer balcony tickets to the general public for the first time. John Guare is the master of ceremonies and Kathleen Marshall is the director of the program that will include performances from Sweeney Todd, The Color Purple, Jersey Boys, and Ring of Fire, along with a salute to Wendy Wasserstein by Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer, and a scene from August Wilson's Fences, performed by original cast members James Earl Jones and Courtney B. Vance. The show will begin at 9pm -- please be aware that there will be no seating until 8:45pm. Also note that the balcony is accessible only by stairs. Appropriate for ages 18 years and up.
