WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Cult legend Raymond Scott's music comes alive once again in the hit show "Don't Beat Your Wife (every night)". In this insane piece of music theatre the Mean Ensemble, stuck somewhere in an early 60s television studio, becomes gradually possessed by Scott's cartoon and commercial universe. Raymond Scott was a prolific American composer in the late 30s through the 40s, 50s and 60s. Much of his music he dubbed "descriptive jazz", as it was a tightly orchestrated take on the swing and jazz genres, and relied little on improvisation. His music is best known through Warner Brothers Looney Toons and other cartoons, but also through his legendary Raymond Scott Quintet, which was one of TV's first house orchestras (Your Hit Parade, 1950-57). He also composed commercial jingles and pioneered the use of electronic sounds in music.
