The Darker Face of the Earth is the first full-length verse play by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and former American Poet Laureate Rita Dove. This UK premiere is directed by James Kerr. Set in pre-Civil War South Carolina, this extraordinary play examines sexual and racial tensions on a cotton plantation. The cast includes Claudia Cadette, Peter de Jersey, Vernon Douglas, Andrew French, Oscar James, John Nolan, Chu Omambala, Sara Powell, Mark Springer, Gilz Terera, Michael Wildman and Jax Williams.
