WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Set in New York, Company follows five married, once-married, and soon-to-be-married couples and their mutual friend, Robert, a bachelor who has been unable to connect in a long-term relationship. Their interactions are presented in a series of vignettes, primarily through Robert's eyes. The show's songs include "Company," "Side by Side by Side," "The Ladies Who Lunch," "Another Hundred People," and "Being Alive."
The New York Philharmonic's four staged performances of Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical Company will star (in alphabetical order) Stephen Colbert (as Harry), the previously announced Neil Patrick Harris as Robert, Patti LuPone (as Joanne), Martha Plimpton (as Sarah), Anika Noni Rose (as Marta), and Jim Walton (as Larry).

If a large part of married life is managing expectations -- a fact made crystal clear by George Furth and Stephen Sondheim in their landmark 1970 musical,
Company, now being given a four-performance concert staging by the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall -- so is a large part of theatergoing, especially when it comes to events like this one.
