Broadway Close Up presents Richard Rodgers: From the Start. Most everybody knows Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) for his work with Oscar Hammerstein on such classics as Oklahoma! (1944), South Pacific (1949), The Sound of Music (1959) and more. Hear music by the young Rodgers in this program focusing on his earlier work with lyricist Lorenz Hart. The program features songs from their first hit, Garrick Gaieties (1926), and more--performed by some of Broadway's best. Ted Chapin hosts. Guest artists: Marni Nixon, Emily Loesser, Aaron Lazar, Marie Johnson, Ben Schrader, Ted Shapin and others.
