WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

To celebrate the return of the remains of Sara Baartman (a.k.a "the Venus Hottentot") to South Africa after being held captive for 187 years in the Museum of Man in Paris, the Kazbah Project presents a Benefit for the Venus Project. The evening consists of a reading of Suzan-Lori Parks' Venus with Kathleen Chalfant (Wit), Joe Morton (Ali), and Bridgit Antoinette Evans, excerpts from the documentary film The Life and Times of Sara Baartman by Zola Maseko, and the original score linkomo Zifile composed by Bongani Ndodana and performed by cellist Nioka Workman.
